NotebookReview and PC World have already reviewed a just released netbook - the Dell Inspiron Mini 9.
The Inspiron Mini 9, that has a starting price of $349 and a starting weight of 2.28 pounds, features an 8.9-inch LED backlit display, Intel’s Atom processor, up to 1GB of RAM, up to 16GB of solid state drive capacity, a 4-cell battery, and Windows XP Home or Ubuntu Linux OS.
NBR says the netbook is small and light, easy to use, very well built and durable, quiet, and affordable. It has a display with “nice and vibrant with rich colors and good contrast”, as well as responsive touchpad. In addition, the mini-laptop is easy upgradeable.
“Unfortunately, while the Mini 9 is great, it still suffers from a few of the same problems we’ve seen in other netbooks (heat, annoying glossy plastics, bad keyboard, and a small battery that could have been bigger without sacrificing much size or weight),” NBR concludes, adding that the Mini has no F11 or F12 keys and that other function keys are in strange location.
According to PC World, the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 is a solid mini-laptop.
“The Inspiron Mini 9 isn’t perfect, but it does offer a terrific design and a good price. I would have a tough time choosing this over Acer’s Aspire One, but Dell’s first venture into the world of mini-notebooks has produced a worthy competitor,” PC World’s review says.
UPDATE: Laptop Magazine also posted today review and hands-on video of the Mini.
