Dell LoJack for Laptops Theft ProtectionDell Inc. is now offering the Computrace LoJack for Laptops Theft Protection service to its notebook PC buyers.

Absolute Software, the maker of LoJack for Laptops, explains that LoJack software installed on your computer works behind the scenes to silently and securely contact its Monitoring Center, and if the laptop is stolen, reports its location using any Internet connection. The Recovery Team then tracks your computer’s location and partners with local law enforcement to get your computer back.

“We recover three out of four stolen computers,” the company says.

The first year of LoJack for Laptops service is included in Dell notebooks’ price. Although it was reported today that this one year free theft-protection service will be available only for buyers of the XPS M1210, M1710 and the M2010 notebooks, Dell’s website says the offer applies to whole laptop lineup.

This could be very cool providing the service cost is within the proper percentage value of the laptop itself..
