Dell Inc. is going to release its low-cost 8.9-inch mini-laptop in June this year, The Wall Street Journal reports.
“The Dell machines seem more likely to compete with the (Asus) Eee PC, which is also aimed at consumers, than HP’s Mini-Note PC, which is being marketed to schools for classroom use. The Dell device will have an 8.9-inch display and will be priced starting at $399,” the report says.
Dell’s mini-notebooks are announced by an official at Compal Electronics Inc., a Taiwanese company that assembles computers for other vendors, and confirmed by a Dell spokeswoman.
Currently, there is no info on specifications of the upcoming Dell ultraportables.
