Dell Streak 7 Android Tablet Officially Announced, Available

Dell officially unveiled today the Streak 7 Android OS-based 7-inch tablet, supporting T-Mobile’s 4G network connectivity.

The Dell Streak 7, also known as “Looking Glass”, runs Android 2.2 with Dell’s Stage user interface and access to Android Market. It features a capacitive multitouch 800×480 display with Gorilla Glass and the Nvidia Tegra 2 platform with a dual-core 1GHz processor.

The 1-pound tablet includes 16GB of internal memory, expandable via an SD card slot, a rear-facing 5-megapixel camera, and front 1.3MP webcam. Besides optional T-Mobile 4G and 3G capability, the device has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1, and GPS.

According to the product page at Dell.com, Streak models with built-in mobile broadband support SMS and MMS messaging.

The Dell Streak 7 Tablet is expected to be available in the U.S. in the coming weeks at T-Mobile retail stores, www.t-mobile.com, and direct from Dell.

There’s no info on pricing.

UPDATE: The Streak 7 is available now at the Dell online store. It’s priced at $199.99 with a 2-year T-Mobile contract, while the regular price is $449.99.
