PC maker Dell will release its tablet PC in the September/October 2007 time frame, according to jkOnTheRun’s sources.
Dell’s convertible notebook will be based on the Latitude D420 laptop and will be compatible with all Latitude D series accessories such as docking stations and power adapters. Also, this tablet PC will be the last system released in the popular Latitude D series. According to jkOnTheRun’s report, the Dell tablet PC will have an active digitizer only, widescreen display and an optional wireless broadband connection.
The current 12.1-inch screen Latitude D420 non-convertible notebooks are based on Intel Centrino “Napa” platform and feature Intel’s ultra-low voltage Core Duo or Core Solo processors, a variety of wireless and broadband connectivity options, a built-in optical drive and a claimed “seven hours of battery life”.
In September 2006 general manager of Dell’s Product Group Alex Gruzen also said the PC maker could offer its tablet computer this year.
