Dell Vostro 1200The Dell Vostro 1200, a new ultraportable laptop for business users, has been released today in Japan.

This 12-inch notebook is based on the Intel’s “Santa Rosa” mobile platform and the GM965 chipset, and features a Celeron or a Core 2 Duo processor, depending on customers choice. The Dell Vostro 1200 uses the Intel GMA X3100 integrated graphics and supports up to 4GB of system memory. It comes with up to 160GB 5,400rpm hard drive and has a built-in DVD burner or Combo drive.

The 1200 model, which is the smallest laptop in the Vostro lineup, features a 12.1″ widescreen display with 1280-by-800 pixels resolution. Optionally, there is a 2-megapixel camera placed at the top of the LCD panel.

Regarding communications, the Vostro 1200 supports 802.11a/b/g/n wireless networking and provides Gigabit Ethernet LAN port, a 56K modem, and an optional Bluetooth module.

The new ultraportable, which runs Windows XP or Windows Vista OS, has three USB ports, an ExpressCard slot, a 3-in-1 media card reader, and an optional fingerprint reader.

According to the specifications, the system weighs approximately 4.16 pounds with a standard 4-cell battery.

The Dell Vostro 1200 starts at around 912 U.S. dollars in Japan.

We can expect this notebook to hit the U.S. market very soon.
