Dell released today the XPS M1530, a “sleek and stylish” 15.4-inch multimedia-oriented notebook featuring the Intel “Santa Rosa” mobile platform, NVIDIA dedicated graphics, a slot loading optical drive, and an HDMI output.
“With starting price of $999, the XPS M1530 is loaded with premium features, like built in webcam and fingerprint reader, and design accents like touch-sensitive multi-media buttons, brushed aluminum accents and a choice of sophisticated colors,” the press release says.
The Dell XPS M1530, which is similar to the 13.3-inch XPS M1330, is configurable with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, from the T5250 chip at 1.5GHz to T7800 at 2.6GHz. The system comes with the NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS 128MB or NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT 256MB GPU, managing 15.4″ widescreen 1280-by-800 pixel display, and supports up to 4GB of DDR2 memory. The notebook ships with a hard drive, offering up to 320GB of storage, or a 64GB Flash memory-based solid state drive. Users can choose between a DVD burner or a Blu-ray optical drive, both with slot loading mechanism.
Regarding communications, the M1530 supports 802.11a/g/draft n wireless networks, and optionally provides HSDPA and EVDO mobile broadband connectivity. Thera are also an Ethernet LAN port and optional Bluetooth module, while a 56K modem is not present in this laptop.
Along with an HDMI output, the M1530 has a VGA connector, three USB ports, an ExpressCard slot, a 8-in-1 media card reader, and a Firewire port. The integrated web camera has a 2-megapixel sensor.
The notebook starts at 5.78 pounds and comes in Alpine White, Tuxedo Black, and Crimson Red colors.
