Everex will release in the United States the CE260 ultra mobile computer based on VIA NanoBook device, BrightHand reports.
Currently, the pricing and availability dates of the Everex CE260 are not known. It is expected to be affordable because VIA NanoBook UMD (Ultra-Mobile Device), scheduled for release during the second half of 2007, is “targeted at aggressive consumer price points”.
The VIA’s NanoBook Reference Design has clamshell form factor, a 7-inch 840-by-480 pixel screen with touch panel, a full keyboard, and a claimed battery life of up to 5 hours. It weighs less than 1.87lbs. The NanoBook is powered by VIA C7-M processor and designed for use with Windows XP and Windows Vista Basic operating systems.
VIA won’t make this ultra mobile device itself reportedly. Instead it is offering the NanoBook design to other companies to produce, and Everex is one of them.
