Everex StepNote NC1500 15.4-inch widescreen laptop can be found at Wal-Mart for $498. Unlike the majority of notebooks on the market, which are powered by Intel’s or AMD’s processors, the StepNote NC1500 features VIA C7-M processor. The C7-M is clocked at 1.5GHz and has 256KB of cache.
The offered laptop has 512MB of DDR2 memory expandable to up to 2GB, a 60GB PATA hard drive, DVD burner and an integrated S3 UniChrome Pro graphics with up to 64MB of shared video memory. Regarding Internet and connectivity, Everex StepNote NC1500 has 802.11b/g wireless, Ethernet LAN and a 56K modem. It also features three USB ports, VGA out, but there is no mention on PCMCIA or ExpressCard slot.
According to the product page, the NC1500’s battery provides 1.5 to 2.0 hours of mobile computing between charges.
Everex StepNote NC1500 ships with Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition.

You should check if the notebook’s BIOS has external monitor/VGA out Enable & Disable option.
I don’t have this laptop, I only guess.
