Everex StepNote NC1501 Budget Notebook Unveiled

Everex StepNote NC1501Everex unveiled today the StepNote NC1501, an “Energy-Efficient” $499 (update: $399 at BestBuy.com) notebook computer featuring VIA C7 M processor and a claimed battery life of up to 4.25 hours with its 6-cell Lithium Ion battery.

Along with VIA C7 M CPU at 1.5GHz, Everex StepNote NC1501 comes with 512MB of DDR2 memory, 60GB 5400rpm SATA hard drive and a DVD burner. Its 15.4-inch widescreen display providing 1280 x 800 resolution is powered by VIA Chrome9 integrated graphics with up to 128MB of shared video RAM.

Everex StepNote NC1501 has a built-in 802.11b/g wireless, Ethernet LAN and a 56k modem, as well as VGA port and three USB ports. There is no information on PC Card or ExpressCard slot in this laptop.

The StepNote NC1501 weighs 5.3lbs and comes with Windows Vista Home Basic operating system without 3D Aero feature.

The new notebook is available in BestBuy.com and Wal-Mart stores nationwide. There are also similar models – NC1502 and NC1503 – which ship with 3-cell Lithium-Ion batteries, instead of with 6-cell units. The StepNote NC1502 and NC1503 are also priced at $499.
