Gateway today announced its C-140 (E-295C for business customers) 14-inch tablet PC, aimed at digital artists. It features Wacom’s digital pen technology, Intel’s “Santa Rosa” notebook platform and an optional AMD-ATI’s dedicated graphics solution.
According to press release, the battery-free Gateway executive stylus is pressure sensitive, and, with 256 levels of sensitivity, is ideal for simulating paint on canvas. Gateway C-140/E-295C is configurable with Intel Core 2 Duo T7100, T7300, T7500, or T7700 processor, and with up to 4GB of DDR2 memory. By default, Gatway’s new tablet comes with Intel GM965 chipset and Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 integrated graphics, but there is also an option of PM965 chipset with ATI Mobility Radeon X2300 HD 256MB dedicated video card. Its 14″ widescreen display provides 1280 x 768 maximal resolution. The C-140/E-295C convertible notebook ships with up to 120GB SATA hard drive and has a built-in DVD burner or Combo drive.
Gateway C-140 provides 802.11a/b/g wireless LAN connection, a Gigabit Ethernet, a 56K modem and an optional Bluetooth module. It has PC Card slot, three USB port, a Firewire port, a 7-in-1 media card reader, as well as an optional fingerprint reader. For enhanced security, there is Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 1.2 option.
This tablet PC can be configured with a lightweight battery or with extended battery, which is claimed to provide up to 10.6 hours of continuous operation between charges. On Gateway C-140’s product pages there is no information on system’s weight.
Gateway C-140 (C-140X) starts at $949.99 after $150 instant off and comes with Windows Vista or Windows XP Tablet PC Edition. It is available via Gateway’s official website.
