Gateway unveiled today the E-155C Tablet PC. The new thin and light convertible notebook supports both a digital pen and touch screen inputs provided by Wacom, and is powered by the latest Intel Core 2 Duo U7500 Ultra Low Voltage processor at 1.06GHz.
Gateway E-155C has a 12-inch widescreen display with 1280 x 800 resolution and with anti-reflection polarizer for “sun-light readability”.
This tablet PC is built on Intel 945GM Chipset, which has an integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950. Along with two 200-pin SODIMM Sockets for up to 4GB of DDR2 memory, Gateway E-155C incorporates SATA hard drive spinning at 5400rpm and providing 60GB, 80GB or 120GB capacities, as well as a built-in combo drive or DVD burner.
The E-155C’s connectivity features include 802.11a/b/g wireless, Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth, and a 56K modem.
Regarding I/O ports of Gateway E-155C, there are two USBs, VGA port, PC Card slot, Fire-Wire, 6-in-1 Digital Card Reader and a port replicator connector.
Besides for security, its fingerprint reader can be used as a scroller when the convertible is in tablet mode, while its Mobility center button gives users one-touch access to mobility settings when tablet is used with Windows Vista OS.
This convertible laptop weighs from 4.5lbs to 5.07lbs, depending on battery capacity and optical drive presence.
Gateway E-155C comes with Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition.
Its base price is $1,849.
The release of the similar Gateway’s non-convertible ultra-portable laptop is expected in May.
