Gateway has launched the newly designed MC Series notebook PCs, featuring a 16-inch display and the Intel Centrino 2 mobile platform.
The first model available - the Gateway MC7801u ($949.99) - features the Intel Core 2 Duo T5800 processor at 2GHz, GMA 4500MHD integrated graphics, 4GB of DDR2 system memory, a 320GB hard drive, and DVD burner. The display has a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio, and “edge-to-edge seamless glass”.
The MC Series laptops also have a 1.3-megapixel webcam, HDMI and VGA outputs, keyboard with backlight, an 802.11a/g/n wireless module, Gigabit Ethernet LAN port, 56k modem, four USB ports, an ExpressCard slot, and 5-in-1 media card reader.
The Gateway MC7801u weighs 7.1 pounds with a standard 6-cell battery and runs Windows Vista Home Premium (64-bit) OS.
Here’s how Gateway describes the exterior of the MC laptops:
“The premium design of the new MC-Series is as impressive as its capabilities. Available in two colors, burgundy and black, the new notebook line features a streamlined design that blends materials and edges for a cohesive look and feel. Customers will first notice the cover’s distinctive synthetic leather branding stripe flanked by silver accents and Gateway logo embossed in zinc alloy metal. Upon opening the notebook, the dramatic edge-to-edge glass display and seamless transitions between materials and design elements provide a luxurious aesthetic. The elegant burgundy model has a deep, rich finish, a brushed metal palm rest and a black polished keyboard surround. The black model is polished to a deep, jet black shine and has a synthetic leather palm rest and black polished keyboard surround.”
Besides the offered MC7801u model, Gateway will launch the MC7803u ($999.99) that includes the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 512MB dedicated video card instead of the integrated GPU.
