HP Pavilion dv9700tHewlett-Packard has released this week the 17-inch HP Pavilion dv9700t entertainment notebook, replacing the older dv9500t laptop.

The Pavilion dv9700t is based on the Intel “Santa Rosa” notebook platform and features an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, ranging from the T5450 clocked at 1.67GHz to the T7500 at 2.2GHz. The graphics options include the Nvidia GeForce 8400M GS 256MB and the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS 512MB video cards. Unlike the dv9500t, the dv9700t is not available with the integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100. The notebook supports up to 4GB of system memory and comes with up to 500GB of storage capacity using two 250GB 5,400rpm hard drives. Optical drive options include a DVD burner, HD DVD ROM, HD DVD-R writer, and a Blu-Ray ROM.

Customers can choose between a 17″ widescreen BrightView Display with 1440-by-900 resolution, a 1680×1050 BrightView Display, and a Ultra BrightView at 1440×900, which features dual-lamp technology for an improved color gamut.

Regarding networking, there are the Intel PRO/Wireless 4965AGN supporting 802.11n draft Wi-Fi standard, an optional Bluetooth, an Ethernet LAN port, 56K modem, and an optional Verizon Wireless ExpressCard for broadband wireless connection.

The HP Pavilion dv9700t also features integrated Altec Lansing stereo speakers, and optional web camera, fingerprint reader, and ExpressCard TV Tuner.

Along with an ExpressCard slot, the dv9700t has three USB ports, a 5-in-1 media card reader, Firewire, and a remote control receiver, as well as HDMI, S-Video, and VGA outputs.

With a standard 8-cell battery, the system’s weight starts at 7.7lbs (8.2lbs with dual lamp display). It features the “Radiance” HP Imprint Finish, and a keyboard with a numeric pad, and comes with Windows Vista OS.

The Pavilion dv9700t basic configuration is currently priced at $999 after rebates.
