Hewlett-Packard’s Pavilion g6 series has been updated recently to include the latest processors as well as a reworked design. The HP g6-2031nr, g6-2033nr, g6-2035nr, g6-2037nr have that new looks, but unfortunately the CPUs used in them are still from the 2nd Generation Intel Core family instead of the newer 3rd Gen chips.
All four mentioned models are basically the same hardware configurations and the only difference are chassis colors. The g6-2031nr is a Linen White one with a matching keyboard, while the remaining three models – the g6-2033nr, g6-2035nr, and g6-2037nr are Bright Purple, Ruby Red, and Winter Blue with black keyboards. HP also offers the new g6 in black and gray colors, but we were unable to find them at the retailers online. The four models that are on sale are all priced at $525. With that amount you are paying for laptops with the 2nd Gen Intel Core i3-2350M 2.3GHz processor, 4GB of RAM, and a 500GB hard drive. Graphics processing relies on the CPU’s Intel HD 3000 integrated graphics, which is not meant to be used for gaming, but the CPU itself is perfectly capable for routine computing tasks despite a lack of clock speed-boosting TurboBoost technology. The screen resolution is a common one, with a 1366×768 pixel count.
The notebooks also offer a built-in DVD burner, webcam, a pair of USB 3.0 ports, and stereo speakers supported by Dolby Advanced Audio v2 technology.
When it comes to design, these budget-class notebooks don’t offer any outstanding meterials and innovations. They are made of plastics and have slightly rounded edges and their white, purple, red, and blue finishes on palm rests and lids have subtle patterns. The keyboards have tile-style keys and include numeric pads, while the trackpads sport physical right and left click buttons.
Info on the battery life is not available, but it is very likely similar to those of the similar laptops with the commonly used i3-2350M CPU and 6-cell battery.
