HP Pavilion g6tHewlett-Packard’s new budget-class 15.6-inch notebook for consumers – the HP Pavilion g6t – is now available for purchase States-side.

Starting at $519.99, the Pavilion g6t features the dual-core Intel Core i3-380M, i3-390M, or i5-480M processor, Intel’s HD integrated or the Radeon HD 6470M 512MB/1GB dedicated graphics, up to 6GB of DDR3 system memory, up to 750GB of hard disk drive capacity, a DVD burner or Blu-ray combo optical drive, LED-backlight screen at 1366×768 pixels, and Windows 7 Home Premium OS.

Other featuers include a chiclet-like keyboard, webcam with microphone, Altec Lansing-branded stereo speakers, HDMI video output and VGA out for older monitors, 802.11n wireless connection, optional built-in Bluetooth module, Ethernet LAN, three USB 2.0 ports, and a multi-in-one media card reader.

With the standard 6-cell battery, the HP g6t provides up to 4.25 hours of run time on a single charge and weighs 5.5 pounds.

The laptop has a high-gloss finish with charcoal gray, luminous rose, pewter, pacific blue, sonoma red, sweet purple, or butter gold color.

The affordable HP Pavilion g6t can be ordered through the Hewlett-Packard store online.

The company also has on offer other g6 models such as the g6s with newer “Sandy Bridge” Core processors or pre-configured AMD-based variants.

  1. Mine has a 370M i3 first generation Intel processor, which I purchased for a good price. I suppose it is what you call a g6t model, having the 370M first generation i3 processor.
    Seems to work OK, but nothing too special. It runs very cool. Eventually I was able to set up good quality sound using headphones, but the Altec-Lansing speakers are very tinny sounding.
    This laptop benefited very well from a Windows 7 feature called Ready Boost. I put a 4gb SD card into the card slot and configured it for Ready Boost. Very fast now, almost like jumping from 4gb RAM, to 8gb, all for the cost of an SD card!

    Battery life is around 3 hours but my research has indicated 4 hours with the 2’nd generation i3 models. So for this reason I recommend getting the newer g6s models instead. And hopefully they fixed the lousy speakers.
