HP ProBook 5310m Laptop Unveiled

HP ProBook 5310mHewlett-Packard unveiled today the HP ProBook 5310m, “the world’s thinnest full-performance notebook” with a standard voltage processor.

At 0.9-inch thin and starting at 3.79 pounds, the business-class ProBook 5310m features a 13.3-inch 1366×768 glossy or anti-glare LED-backlight display, the standard voltage Intel Core 2 Duo SP9300 or ultra-low voltage Celeron SU2300 processor, the GMA 4500MHD integrated GPU, up to 4GB of DDR3 memory, up to 320GB of hard drive space or a 128GB solid state drive, and a standard 4-cell 41WHr battery. The laptop doesn’t have a built-in optical drive.

The new ProBook also includes a built-in 2MP web camera, dual-microphone array, stereo speakers, WiFi, Bluetooth, a Gigabit LAN port, optional mobile broadband connection with GPS, a Display Port, three USB ports, and a secure digital card slot.

According to the product specifications, the system provides up to 8 hours of battery life, when configured with the SU2300 ULV chip and the SSD. With the SP9300 CPU and the SSD, the battery lasts up to 7.5 hours. In both cases, HDD selection instead of the SSD reduces the battery life for 1 hour.

HP’s 5310m has an aluminum display enclosure and palm rest and a magnesium alloy bottom case.

It runs Windows 7 operating system.

The HP ProBook 5310m starts at $699 with the Celeron and $899 with the Intel Core 2 Duo processor. The notebook is available immediately in the Asia-Pacific region with the Microsoft Vista operating system and is expected to be available for delivery in North America, Europe, Africa and the Middle East, and the Asia-Pacific region on October 22 with Windows 7.
