IntelIntel has begun producing 32-nanometer processors, codenamed “Westmere”, according to the company.

The Westmere chips - Arrandale for laptops and Clarkdale for desktop PCs - pack CPUs and graphics chips on the same die. The 32nm processors will be included in Intel’s Core chip family for 2010.

The processors are expected to provide better performance and lower power consumption than current 45nm parts.

Westmere and other innovations will be discussed at next week’s Intel Developer Forum (IDF) in San Francisco.
