IntelNetbooks based on the new processor - the Intel Atom N280 - are expected to be introduced by Asustek, Acer, and Gigabyte between second and third quarter 2009, DigiTimes reports.

The single-core Atom N280 CPU has a 1.66GHz core clock speed and a 667MHz front side bus, which is up from 1.60GHz and 533MHz in the currently available Atom N270.

The N280 will be paired with Intel’s upcoming GN40 chipset. Specifications of the new chipset are still unknown.

The Intel Atom N280 is priced at $60-65 in thousand-unit tray quantities, compared to $46 for its predecessor, DigiTimes’ sources said.
