Intel is about to launch two new notebook PC platform logos – the Centrino Pro and refreshed Centrino Duo, The Inquirer reports.
“The Pro is defined as A T7xxx CPU, GM965 chipset, ICH8M chipset, and all the technologies there turned on. You may have heard of this as Santa Rosa. In 2008, you need a Penryn, Cantiga GM or PM and ICH9M to get the logo. This will basically bring Intel AMT (Active Management Technology) to v4.0, a new spin of VT (Virtualization Technology), and up the front-side bus from 800 to 1066,” the Inquirer says.
The Centrino Duo, now with added logo manliness, is the same thing without the VT, AMT or restrictions on the FSB or cache. The laptops with new Centrino Duo logo can use slower chips and don’t need the enterprise features, according to the report.
The FSB increase in the Centrino Pro platform will most likely be to 800Mhz from 667Mhz of the present generation Core 2 Duo’s. I guess, Inquirer goofed up.
when the hell is santa rosa being released, i thought it was at the start of april this year? Im holding out for a new laptop
