Intel’s representatives introduced Laptop Gaming TDK (Technology Development Kit) at 2007 Game Developers Conference. The Laptop Gaming TDK is aimed to allow developers to optimize games for notebook computers, specifically on the battery and wireless internet connections, NotebookReview reports.
“It does this by focusing on what the major drains on the battery are and the impact software can have on battery life. Since most of the optimization that can be done on the hardware level has been, they suggested a move to more efficient games,” the report says.
Laptop Gaming TDK allows the developers to detect if the computer on which game is running is a notebook. It also provides information about battery life, wireless signal strength, CPU load, and more, adjusting performance on the fly. These adjustments include, for example, changes of screen resolution and video detail.
The notebook system information is also viewable by users, since it can be displayed within the game itself.
