Intel Core 2 Duo MobileIncreasing laptop computer shipments in the second half of this year have caused shortages of Intel’s mobile processors and wireless LAN modules, DigiTimes reports.

“Due to Intel’s misjudgment of notebook demand, the gap between the company’s production capacity and market demand is increasing. Intel recently stated to makers that it will readjust its production capacity to solve the shortages and it expects the problem should be solved by the end of the year,” the report says.

Jerry Shen, general president of Asustek’s AOOP Business Group, says that the Intel processor shortage should smooth out in first quarter of 2008 when market demand drops.

According to DigiTimes, there are also shortages of laptop batteries and display panels.
