The Lenovo 3000 V100 is an 12.1-inch screen ultraportable laptop featuring Intel Core Duo Mobile processors. Here are it’s valuable review quotes with links to the full stories.
Lenovo 3000 V100 review by PC Magazine
Overall, the Lenovo 3000 V100 is well-suited for small businesses that need a balance of portability and performance and don’t want to spend a lot of money. Sure, there are lighter solutions out there, such as the Gateway E-100M and the HP nc2400, but neither match the V100’s performance.

However, these minor complaints pale next to the V100’s uninviting keyboard and touchpad. I could live with the hard keystroke (versus the ThinkPad keyboard’s comfortable, smooth action). But the touchpad buttons on my review unit were so stiff and unresponsive that I had trouble using them. They had to be pressed so hard that even simple operations such as selecting text were difficult, if not impossible, to complete. In the end, I finally gave up and attached a USB mouse.
PC Pro: Product Reviews: Lenovo 3000 V100
Despite the feeling of the odd cut corner, the V100 is a reasonable first effort for a company whose name is hardly currency with consumers. It’s well specified and capable of most jobs, and the keyboard stands out as being particularly superb - all in a very portable package. But the problem for Lenovo is that the ultraportable market is becoming much more competitive. The presence of the similarly priced Samsung Q35 in this month’s ultraportables Labs is particularly telling.
Lenovo 3000 v100 Holds Its Own with ThinkPad Cousin
The 3000 v100 scored a 250 in MobileMark 2005 tests, or 4 hours and 10 minutes of battery life with a six-cell battery. (The v100 also can be configured with a three-cell battery.)We were disappointed with these results, as the Lenovo system’s battery life didn’t come close to that of the HP Compaq n2400 and is soundly blown away by the ThinkPad X60s, which delivered 7-plus hours of battery life in our tests.

The good: Low price; high-end components; solid performance; comfortable keyboard; wide-aspect display; integrated optical drive; solid assortment of ports and connections, including media-card reader; fingerprint reader; robust system-management and help utility. The bad: One-year warranty inferior to some business models’; small touch pad and shallow mouse buttons; few dedicated multimedia controls.
The bottom line: If you can carry a little extra weight in an ultraportable, the Lenovo 3000 V100 is a well-appointed business laptop that offers solid performance for a competitive price.
TrustedReviews - Lenovo 3000 V100 Ultra Portable Notebook
At first glance the V100 suffers for looks and build quality compared to a genuine ThinkPad. However it does bring many ThinkPad features to a more affordable price point. I wouldn’t consider it though unless it’s paired with an extended battery as the standard one is far too weedy.
