Lenovo IdeaPad Y510The Lenovo IdeaPad Y510, a 15.4-inch model of the PC maker’s new IdeaPad notebook family, is now available for purchase in the United States.

The Y510 is based on the Intel’s “Santa Rosa” notebook platform, and comes with up to Intel Core 2 Duo T5550 processor at 1.83GHz. The Lenovo IdeaPad Y510 features the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100, up to 250GB 5400rpm hard drive, 2GB of system memory expandable to 4GB, and a DVD burner. The notebook’s 15.4″ display has a WXGA 1280-by-800 resolution.

This laptop incorporates the Dolby Home Theater sound system with four speakers and a sub-woofer, as well as a built-in 1.3 megapixel web camera which provides a face recognition functionality when used with a special software called VeriFace.

Regarding communications, there are the Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG or 4965AGN Wi-Fi module, an Ethernet LAN port, and a 56K modem.

The Y510 sports three USB ports, an ExpressCard slot, a FireWire port, VGA and S-Video outputs, and a 6-in-1 media card reader.

Design novelties in the new notebook include a frameless screen panel, the Light Weave Texture, and touch-sensitive multimedia controls.

The system weighs 6.4 pounds and provides approximately four hours of battery life with a standard 6-cell battery.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Y510 starts at $799 and is available through the select U.S. retailers, such as TigerDirect.
