Lenovo ThinkPad T61 Released

Lenovo ThinkPad T61 14.1-inch (and later added 15.4-inch) widescreen laptop, built on new Intel Centrino platform code-named “Santa Rosa”, is now available for pre-order at Lenovo’s web site. The T61 notebooks feature the GM965/PM965 chipsets, new Intel Core 2 Duo processors with faster 800MHz front side bus, wireless N, and NVIDIA Quadro discrete graphics in select models.

Lenovo ThinkPad T61 Specifications:

- Intel Core 2 Duo T7100, T7300, T7500 and T7700 processors with up to 2.4GHz clock speed, 800MHz FSB and up to 4MB of L2 cache.
- Intel GM965 chipset with integrated Graphics Media Accelerator 3100 or PM965 chipset with dedicated NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M graphics.
- The 14.1-inch widescreen displays with 1280 x 800 or with 1440 x 900 resolution. (The 15.4-inch widescreen models were unveiled later.)
- Wireless N (IEEE 802.11n draft), 802.11a/b/g, and wireless WAN (WWAN) communications, Bluetooth, Gigabit Ethernet, 56k modem.
- Hard drives with 60, 80, 120, or 160GB capacities (5400 rpm); 60 or 100GB at 7200rpm in selected systems. Full hard disk encryption available.
- Selected models with 1GB Intel Turbo Memory for improved performance.
- DVD, CD-RW/DVD, or Multi-Burner DVD Recordable dual layer optical drives.
- ExpressCard, PC Card slots, four-in-one media card reader on selected models.
- Integrated SmartCard reader on selected models.
- Fire-Wire.
- Weight starting at 5lbs.
- Choice of 32-bit or 64-bit Windows Vista or Windows XP Professional OS.

The starting price of the Lenovo ThinkPad T61 is $1,064.
