Lenovo is going to release soon the new ThinkPad W Series 17-inch mobile workstations – the standard W701 and dual-screen W701ds, according to leaked product details.
The W701/W701ds laptops feature the latest Intel processors, the NVIDIA Quadro FX 2800M and 3800M professional video cards, four memory slots for up to 16GB of DDR3 memory, up to 500GB of hard drive space and up to 256GB of solid state drive storage, and a DVD burner.
Display options include a WUXGA screen with 100% gamut and a 280nit brightness, and a WXGA+ 200nit choice. The W701ds additionally has a second 10.6-inch display.
The ThinkPads also sport an optional Wacom digitizer on the palm rest, optional color calibrator, a 2MP webcam, DVI, VGA and Display Port outputs, a fingerprint reader, Firewire, WiFi, Bluetooth, five USB ports (1x USB 3.0, 1x USB/eSATA combo), an ExpressCard slot, and a 5-in-1 media card reader.
The ThinkPad W Series W701/W701ds are scheduled for release on February 23rd. The price is expected to be around $2,000 for the W701 and more higher for W701ds.
UPDATE: The laptops will be available beginning in March. Pricing for the W701 and W701ds start at approximately $2,199 and $3,799, respectively.
