Lenovo today announced the first ThinkPad laptops using Utimaco security technologies enabling people to encrypt the contents of notebooks hard drive with a single swipe of their finger. Lenovo also announced that T, R, X and Z series Thinkpads are updated with 802.11n wireless technology, allowing users to achieve “faster than wired” connectivity with speeds in excess of 100 mbps. The company also added Intel’s Core 2 Duo Merom processors to its Thinkpad notebooks.
According to the press release, Lenovo will also offer Softex’s OmniPass software for PC authentication management including fingerprints and passwords on select Lenovo PCs.
The Lenovo ThinkPad notebook series will now include Windows Vista Capable models, of which many are Windows Vista Premium Ready, the press release says.
There is no info about prices and availability of the updated Thinkpad laptop computers.
