LG today unveiled the LG Ultra PC 13Z940 13.3-inch ultrathin laptop and a pair of 11.6-inch slider convertibles – the Tab-Book2 11T740 and 11T540, all with Windows 8.1 OS, minimalistic design, and IPS screen technology.
The incredibly thin LG Ultra PC 13Z940 notebook measures 0.54″ at the thickest point. It’s also very light, with a weight of just 2.2 pounds. The white-colored Ultra PC sports full HD display resolution and an interesting design of the display panel itself, thanks to a very thin LCD bezel measuring 0.17″. Another nice display perk is so called Reader Mode, “allowing the user to alter the background of any onscreen image to resemble paper” for lower eye-strain and better energy efficiency. The LG Ultra PC 13Z940 packs an Intel “Haswell” Core processor inside, but specific CPU model is unknown.
On the other side, the higher-end Tab-Book2 11T740 slider model, with a Core i5 Haswell chip and full HD screen with improved outdoors viewability thanks to its 400nit lumens brightness, is a tad thicker and heavier at 0.66″ and 2.3 pounds, but it’s still a highly portable PC. The lower-end 11T540 Tab-Book 2 model is slimmer and lighter than its 11T740 sibling. It has a 0.53″ profile and weighs only two pounds. LG hasn’t published what hardware is hidden inside it, but judging from the dimensions of the device we can assume it packs some low-power low-heat Intel Atom or similar AMD chip.
LG hasn’t revealed pricing nor availability dates for the new Windows 8.1 laptop and slider duo. More details are expected to surface during the 2014 CES Show in Las Vegas which starts in a couple of days.
Besides these mobile PCs, LG also unveiled a 27″ all-in-one desktop with a built-in TV tuner, an Intel Haswell CPU and the Nvidia GeForce GT 740M dedicated graphics.
