MacBook ProAn announcement of the Apple’s new MacBook Pro laptop featuring the latest Intel Core 2 Duo (Merom) processor could be made as soon as next week, according to the German “MacGadget”.

Along with Core 2 Duo CPUs, the forthcoming MacBook Pro notebooks incorporate FireWire 800 in all models, as same as bigger hard drives, faster graphics cards and faster DVD burners, the report says.

“Whether the consumer MacBook will be updated to Core 2 Duo this year remains unclear, but possible,” MacGadget reports.

Update: Also, AppleInsider announced that “fresh hardware shipments from Apple Computer should commence within the next week and a half, according to statements from both company executives and those responsible for keeping ties with its reseller community”.
