MacBook ProApple plans to update both MacBook and MacBook Pro laptop computers with the new Intel Core 2 Duo (Merom) processors in time for the holiday shopping season, but precise launch dates remain fluid. The development of Merom-powered 13-inch MacBook, 15-inch MacBook Pro and 17-inch MacBook Pro is now complete and “all that’s left is for Apple marketing to pull the trigger”, AppleInsider has learned.

It’s expected that the new MacBooks and MacBook Pros will feature specifications very similar to current models, due to similarities in speeds between Intel’s Core Duo and Core 2 Duo processors. However, the Core 2 Duo line adds a 2.33GHz chip, which is expected to be available to buyers of higher-end MacBook Pro configurations, according to the AppleInsider.
