GSM Association (GSMA) has announced that mobile operators, PC manufacturers and chipset providers are uniting to pre-install Mobile Broadband chips into a range of laptops.
The notebook PCs with the Mobile Broadband service mark will be ready to “switch on and surf straight out of the box in 91 countries across the world”.
This initiative is supported by 3 Group, Asus, Dell, ECS, Ericsson, Gemalto, Lenovo, Microsoft, Orange, Qualcomm, Telefónica Europe, Telecom Italia, TeliaSonera, T-Mobile, Toshiba and Vodafone.
The Mobile Broadband-marked laptops are expected to hit the market for the upcoming holiday shopping season, according to GSMA.
