NotebookReview web site has published the review of the MSI M677 Crystal Collection laptop. This exclusive notebook, featuring ring on notebook lid made of 120 pieces of genuine SWAROVSKI crystals, is claimed to be better product than competing Acer’s Ferrari and Asus’ Lamborghini luxury laptops.
The reviewed 15.4-inch (1280 X 800) widescreen MSI’s M677 Crystal Collection laptop PC incorporates dual-core AMD Turion 64 x2 processor at 1.8GHz, nVidia GeForce Go 7600 graphics card with 256MB of dedicated video memory and 1GB of DDR2 main memory which is upgradeable to up to 2GB. There are also 120GB SATA hard drive at 5400rpm rotational speed and Supermulti DVD burner. Regarding Internet and connectivity, MSI M677 Crystal has 802.11b/g wireless, an Ethernet LAN, a 56k modem, Bluetooth and a 1.3 Mega pixel web camera for video conferencing, mounted on the top of notebook’s screen panel. The laptop incorporates a variety of ports and slots including both PCMCIA PC Card and ExpressCard slots, four USB ports, FireWire, DVI and S-Video outputs, as same as 6-in-1 card reader. The notebook weighs around 6.4 pounds with 9-cell battery providing up to three hours of continuous work between charges.
The Super Pi and 3DMark05 benchmarks show that MSI M677 Crystal has CPU and graphics performance similar to Asus Z96Js with Intel Core Duo processor at 2GHz and ATI X1600 graphics.
According to the review, the notebook’s magnesium alloy chassis gives it a “sturdy and robust look”. The MSI M677 also has a great screen, the average speakers, a tolerable keyboard and a good cooling system.
“Both Acer and Asus have unique laptops (the Ferrari and Lamborghini) but these laptops come with a premium price of around 2000 euros ($2630) and they have mediocre performance so you’re paying more for the looks and branding than what is inside. MSI has created a powerful combination with the M677 Crystal Collection”, the review says.
The M677 Crystal Collection notebook can be found in the United States via NewEgg online store for $1,799.99.
