NEC launched Shield Pro FC-N21S rugged tablet PC, featuring 12-inch touch-screen panel and Intel Core Solo Ultra Low Voltage (ULV) U1400 processor running at 1.2GHz. NEC “Shield Pro” FC-N21S is protected against ingress of dust at levels that would harm operation and against splashes of water from all directions. The FC-N215 can be purchased with a 60GB SATA or 40GB Ultra ATA hard-disk drive. Users can also choose between Windows XP Pro or Linux operating system.
The rugged NEC tablet will go on sale in Japan in January for between $2165 and $260, while the company is still considering its international availability plans.
