Nokia and Intel Scrapped Plan for HSDPA Notebook Module
Mobile telecommunications corporation Nokia said today it and partner Intel Corp. had scrapped a joint plan to develop an HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access) module for laptop computers.
“We have, together with Intel, canceled the HSDPA module cooperation in the form we formerly announced,” said Nokia spokeswoman Eija-Riitta Huovinen.
Nokia had announced last September it was working with Intel on the HSDPA module, which would help notebook computer users find the best wireless connections.
“We are still looking at the HSDPA module case from a technological point of view, but no decisions have been made on commercializing it,” she said.
The Nokia’s HSDPA module was planned to be incorporated in forthcoming Intel Santa Rosa notbook platform, sheduled for release in the first half of 2007.
