Nokia’s HERE Navigation & Map App Now Available for All Windows 8.1 Devices

Nokia HERE Maps on 8-inch Windows 8.1 Tablet

The Nokia HERE navigation and mapping app, previously available only on phones and Lumia 2520 tablet, is now available for all Windows 8.1 and 8.1 RT devices. You can now install this high-quality map program on your 8.1-based tablet or laptop and, importantly, it’s free of charge.

The app works even if your device doesn’t have GPS and the maps are downloadable for offline use. However, for driving and walking directions it’s better to have GPS built-in or as a separate laptop / tablet accessory. This important app release has suddenly made the Toshiba Encore 8 and Lenovo IdeaPad Miix 8 8″ tablets more attractive, since these two are GPS-enabled, while the Acer Iconia W4, Dell Venue 8 Pro, and Lenovo ThinkPad 8 are not. Also, the upcoming Asus VivoTab Note 8 has GPS, too.

You can download Here Maps from the Windows Store.

  1. This was a great conference attended by a very diverse group of companies – all focused on the same issue: How to provide exemplary service to best affect a customer’s current experience as well as their future buying decisions. Ideas shared included best uses of technology, operational considerations and how to empower employees to make it happen in the field. Looking forward to next year’s conference!,

  2. Hi, have you used the historical imagery function on Google Earth, over the Track 22 area? I was surprised to see a sprawling kampong as late as 2005! By 2006 the structures were gone, and by 2008 nature had obscured most traces. Do you know if this was an occupied kampong?
