Novatel Wireless, provider of wireless broadband access solutions, today introduced three new EVDO Rev. A products. EVDO Rev. A cards in form of USB, PC Card, and embedded module, enable downlink data speeds of up to 3.1 Mbps, the press release says.
The MCD3000 EVDO USB product, part of the Ovation line, enables access to 3G networks through notebook or desktop PCs. It is backwards compatible with currently deployed EVDO Rev 0 and CDMA 1xRTT technologies. In addition, the MCD3000 has wireless assisted global positioning capabilities and incorporates an advanced dual-band antenna system. The MCD3000 is about the size of a small cell phone.
The Merlin M720 PC Card provides laptop users with the latest EVDO Rev. A with backwards compatibility with EVDO Rev 0 and 1xRTT networks. The Merlin M720 is GPS (Global Positioning System) ready and incorporates an advanced dual-band diversity design.
The Expedite E720 PCI Express Mini Card Module features many of the same capabilities as the Merlin M720 PC Card, but allows the OEMs to embed the module at board level. The GPS capabilities are also incorporated.
The new products are currently ramping shipments at major carrier or OEM customers, the press release says.
