The laptop version of the NVIDIA’s GeForce 8800 video card will be launched soon, according to Fudzilla.
Designed for use in gaming notebooks, the GeForce 8800M will be offered in Dell’s upcoming XPS (M1730) 17-inch laptop reportedly, which will also feature the Intel Core 2 Extreme processor option.
The previous reports about the release of the 8800M this summer say the NVIDIA’s most powerful graphics chip for laptops will be available in GeForce 8800M GTX, 8800M GT and 8800M GS versions.
The GeForce 8800M GPUs for laptops are expected to arrive with decreased performance when compared to the GeForce 8800 for desktops, in order to fit notebook-specific temperature and power consumption requirements.
Currently, the NVIDIA 8M Series graphics modules are available in the GeForce 8700M, 8600M, and 8400M flavors. All of the 8M GPUs are DirectX 10 compatible.
