NVIDIA Announces GeForce 9M Series, Hybrid SLI

NVIDIA GeForce 9M (9600M GT)NVIDIA today announced the GeForce 9M Series of laptop graphics processors, the first GPUs with support for a new and innovative NVIDIA Hybrid SLI technology.

“The new GeForce 9M notebook GPUs enable the world’s first notebooks with Hybrid SLI technology. The new technology enables two NVIDIA GPUs, one low-power and one high-performance, to work cooperatively in the same PC to deliver two features—GeForce Boost and HybridPower. These features deliver more performance from both GPUs for visual computing when needed, or save power by switching to the low-power GPU when not,” the press release says.

According to NVIDIA, the GeForce 9M mobile video cards deliver “up to 40% faster performance than the previous generation GeForce notebook GPUs and 10x the performance of integrated graphics solutions”. There are also updated PureVideo HD video processing for improved color and contrast, as well as support for the latest Blu-Ray advancements and DVI, HDMI 1.3, Display Port 1.1, and VGA display standards.

NVIDIA’s 9M GPUS for “Performance and Multimedia” laptops inclcude the GeForce 9650M GS, 9600M GT, 9600M GS, 9500M GS, and GeForce 9500M G chips. For “Thin and Light” notebooks, the company launched the GeForce 9300M GS, 9300M G, 9200M GS, and 9100M G graphics series.

Unfortunately, NVIDIA “Enthusiast” mobile GPU category currently contains only older GeForce 8M and Go 7 Series, but some PC makers already announced notebooks with the 9800M (GTX) video cards.

  1. I have a 9300M GS graphics card in my Samsung r710. When I run my CAD (solid edge) program the display goes ‘transparent’ when I start drawing.

My system has 4GB ram and 256MB dedicated graphics. This should be more than adequate for the drawing package but I have not been able to rectify the issue.

    Any help appreciated
