OCZ Technology has announced the PC3-8500 and PC3-10666 DDR3 SODIMM memory modules for the upcoming Intel Centrino 2 “Montevina”-based laptops.
“From a technical standpoint, DDR3 memory technology is far superior to DDR2, from the higher frequency range resulting in better overall system performance to the energy savings at idle stemming from loss-less termination to the supply-voltage level and resulting in paramount energy savings in the typical notebook usage pattern”, said Dr. Michael Schuette, VP of Technology Development at OCZ Technology.
OCZ’s PC3-8500 SODIMM notebook memory modules feature latencies of 8-8-8-27, while the PC3-10666 SODIMM has 9-9-9-24 timings at a 1.5 volts for lower power consumption. The both series will be available in 2GB modules and 4GB (2×2048MB) dual channel kits.
Currently there is no information on pricing and exact availability dates.
