Non-profit organization One Laptop per Child (OLPC) has unveiled the XO 2.0 or XOXO, a prototype of the second generation XO laptop.
The XO 2.0 notebook for children has two touch-screens, a reduced power consumption from 2-4 watts to 1 watt, and a smaller size than the original XO, InfoSync World reports.
The dual-display design provides a right and left page in vertical format, a hinged laptop in horizontal format, and a flat two-screen wide continuous surface that can be used in tablet mode, according to the report.
OLPC’s goal is to achieve a price tag of only $75 for the XOXO.
The XO 2.0 mini-laptop is planned for launch in 2010.
However, OLPC plans to release the XO 1.5 version in the spring of 2009. The XO 1.5 has “the same design as the first generation but with fewer physical parts and at lower cost than XO 1.0″.
