VIA Technologies announced yesterday that the OQO Model 02 ultra-mobile PC is the first computer with the chip maker’s new 1.6GHz VIA C7-M ULV processor.
In addition to a faster processor, the refreshed OQO Model 02 UMPC lineup now also includes configurations with the support for EVDO Rev. A broadband wireless networks, as well as with a 32GB solid state drive and a traditional 120GB HDD.
The older OQO Model 02 configurations have a 1.5GHz VIA C-7M CPU, up to 60GB hard drive, and the support for the previous EVDO version.
Advertised as “The World’s Smallest Full-Featured PC”, the OQO Model 02 UMPC weighs only 1 pound. It features a 5-inch display, a thumb keyboard, and a claimed battery life of up to six hours with a double capacity battery. The Model 02 runs Windows XP or Windows Vista operating system, depending on configuration.
This ultra-mobile PC starts at $1299.
If it only came in a clamshell design a little longer so that it would have a real touch type keyboard I would definately buy one but to me those internal updates mean very little without a good input of a real keyboard.
