Dell has introduced new options for its Inspiron Mini 9 netbook. The updates include an increased solid state drive capacity, mobile broadband option, and new color choices.
The Mini 9 is now configurable with up to 32GB of SSD storage, which is up from the previous maximum of 16GB. Upgrade from the minimal 4GB to 32GB costs $100.
Acer is going to release a 10-inch version of the Aspire One netbook in February or March 2009, DigiTimes reports.
The company is also going to launch a 14.1-inch notebook with LED backlight display in Taiwan by the end of 2008, as well as 12.1-, 13.3- and 15.6-inch LED-based laptops next year, according to the report.
MSI has officially unveiled the Wind U120 netbook computer, featuring a 10-inch display and Intel’s Atom processor.
Along with the Atom N270 at 1.6GHz, the 2.2-pound MSI Wind U120 includes 1GB of RAM, up to 160GB of hard drive space, a 1.3- or 2-megapixel web camera and a 3- or 6-cell battery, depending on model, as well as Windows XP Home operating system. The display has a resolution of 1024×600 pixels.
US-based e-tailers now offer the Samsung X360 13.3-inch laptop, featuring Intel Centrino 2 technology.
The 2.8-pound X360, which is 0.6-1.2″ thin, is available in two configurations. The X360-34G comes with the Intel Core 2 Duo SU9300 processor at 1.2GHz and a 120GB hard drive, whereas the X360-34P ships with a 1.4GHz SU9400 and a 128GB solid state drive. Both laptops include 3GB of DDR3 memory and Intel’s GMA 4500MHD integrated graphics that manages the 1280×800 LED backlight display. However, the systems do not include optical drives.
Laptop Magazine, PC World, CNet and ComputerShopper have reviewed Hewlett-Packard’s new netbook - the HP Mini 1000.
The reviewed 2.25-pound Mini 1000 features a 10.2-inch 1024×600 display, Intel’s Atom processor, 512MB or 1GB of DDR2 memory, up to 16GB of solid state drive storage or a 60GB hard drive, a built-in web camera, 3-cell battery, and Windows XP operating system. The notebook is also available with an 8.9″ screen.
Raon Digital has launched recently the Everun Note, the world’s first netbook that features a dual core processor.
Along with the AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual Core CPU at 1.2GHz and ATI graphics, the 1.6-pound Everun Note features a 7-inch touch-screen with a resolution of 1,024-by-600 pixels, up to 24GB of solid state drive or up to 80GB of hard drive space, and 1GB of DDR2 memory.
Hewlett-Packard announced today the HP Pavilion tx2z (TouchSmart tx2), the company’s first Tablet PC with a multi-touch display.
The 12.1-inch Pavilion tx2z recognizes simultaneous input from more than one finger using “capacitive multi-touch technology”. It enables the use of gestures such as pinch, rotate, arc, flick, press and drag, and single and double tap. In addition, the tx2z supports digital pen input.

Samsung’s X460, a new 14.1-inch thin-and-light laptop, is now available in the United States.
NewEgg offers the 4-pound notebook, which is 0.80-1.25 inches thin, in two versions. The X460-44G model features the Intel Core 2 Duo P7350 processor at 2GHz and a 250GB hard drive, whereas the X460-44P has the 2.26GHz Core 2 Duo P8400 and a 320GB HDD. Both laptops feature the NVIDIA GeForce 9200M GS 256MB dedicated graphics, 3GB of DDR3 memory, and a DVD burner. The LED-backlit display has a resolution of 1280×800 pixels.
Dell has launched in the United States the Vostro A860, an affordable 15.6-inch laptop that was previously aimed only at emerging markets.
Starting at $379 after instant savings, the Dell Vostro A860 features Intel’s Celeron or Pentium Dual Core processor, GM965 chipset with GMA X3100+ integrated graphics, 1GB or 2GB of DDR2 memory, a 120GB or 160GB hard drive, and a Combo optical drive or DVD burner, all depending on model. The anti-glare type display has a resolution of 1366×768 pixels.
Aving.net has published photos and specifications of the UMID MID (Mobile Internet Device), featuring a laptop-like design, 4.8-inch touch screen display, and Intel’s Atom processor.
The 0.69-pound MID comes with an Atom at 1.1Ghz or 1.33GHz, 512BMB or 1GB of RAM, and up to 32GB of solid state drive storage. Its display has a resolution of 1024×600 pixels.
MSI has announced the GX630-028US 15.4-inch gaming notebook model that will be selling for $799.99.
The MSI GX630-028US features an AMD dual-core processor, NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT video card, 4GB of DDR2 RAM, and a 250GB hard drive, as well as a 2-megapixel web camera, HDMI output, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. Its display has a resolution of 1280×800 pixels.
