HP G60Hewlett-Packard has silently released the HP G60, the company’s first laptop that features a 15.6-inch display.

A G60 model sold by Circuit City - the G60-120US - includes the AMD Turion 64 X2 RM-70 processor, NVIDIA GeForce 8200M graphics, 3GB of DDR2 memory, a 250GB hard drive, and DVD burner. The 15.6-inch display has a resolution of 1366×768 pixels and a 16:9 aspect ratio.

HP HDX16tHewlett-Packard is now shipping their newly designed HP HDX16t entertainment notebook PC, featuring a 16-inch display and the latest Intel Core 2 Duo processor.

The HDX16t is configurable with 2GB or 3GB of DDR2 memory, up to 320GB of hard drive space, a DVD burner or Blu-Ray Combo drive, and built-in HDTV tuner. The laptop incorporates the NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT 512MB video card which manages the display with a 16:9 aspect ratio and resolution of 1366×768 pixels. The system will be also configurable with a full HD 1920×1080 dual-backlight display and dual hard drives, according to the product page.

Dell Precision Quad Core LaptopDell is going to release this fall a 17-inch Precision mobile workstation that features a quad core processor and support for 16GB of system memory, according to a promotional video.

The desktop replacement laptop includes a graphics solution with 1GB of video memory and up to two hard drives providing up to 1TB of storage in total.

The offered NS laptops at SonyStyle are preconfigured models, featuring the Intel Core 2 Duo T5800 CPU at 2GHz, GMA 4500MHD integrated graphics, 3GB or 4GB of DDR2 system memory, and a 250GB hard drive. Select models include a Blu-ray Combo optical drive, while the others come with a DVD burner.

Dell LogoDell is the leading laptop supplier in North America in the second quarter of 2008 with a 21.9 percent share of notebook PC shipments, the latest report by DisplaySearch reveals.

Dell is followed by Hewlett-Packard and Acer (includes Gateway & Packard Bell) with shares of 21.4% and 14.4% respectively. Apple’s notebook sales had the most significant jump - from 6.6% in Q2 2007 to 10.6% in Q2 ‘08. Toshiba is fifth with 9.0%, while all other notebook vendors cover 22.4% of the North American market.

Dell Latitude E4200, E4300Dell’s new ultraportable business-class laptops - the Latitude E4200 and Latitude E4300 - are now available for purchase.

The E4200 features a 12.1-inch display and has a starting weight of 2.2 pounds, while the E4300 includes a 13.3″ screen and starts at 3.3 lbs. The both laptops are based on Intel GS45 Express chipset with the GMA 4500MHD integrated graphics and support for DDR3 memory. The E4200 and E4300 come with the latest Intel Core 2 Duo Ultra-Low Voltage (SU9300, SU9400) and Core 2 Duo normal voltage (SP9300, SP9400) processors respectively.

Toshiba Satellite NB105Toshiba Mexico has revealed the company’s first netbook - the Satellite NB105.

The Toshiba Satellite NB105 features a 8.9-inch 1024×600 LED backlight display, Intel’s Atom processor at 1.6GHz, 1GB of RAM, a 120GB hard drive, the GMA 950 integrated graphics, a built-in web camera, Wi-Fi and Ethernet connections, three USB ports, and an SD card slot. The NB105 runs Windows XP operating system.

IntelIntel announced this week it has begun shipping the X18-M and X25-M Mainstream SATA Solid-State Drives for laptop and desktop computers.

The 1.8-inch X18-M and 2.5-inch X25-M are based on multi-level cell (MLC) NAND flash technology and are available in 80GB capacities. Their read and write speeds are up to 250MB per second and up to 70MB/s respectively. Samples of upcoming 160GB versions will be available in the fourth quarter of this year.
