Apple’s has released the refreshed Macbook Air 13.3-inch thin-and-light laptop, which now features the new NVIDIA’s graphics, faster architecture, and a larger hard drive.
The company offers two new Macbook Air configurations. The first, the MB543LL/A, has a 1.6GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and a 120GB hard drive, which is larger than 80GB in previous models. It is priced at $1,799. The second, the MB940LL/A, offers a 1.86GHz Core 2 Duo and a 128GB solid state drive for $2,499.
Both models use a 1066MHz front side bus, which is up from 800MHz in the previous version. The laptops ship with 2GB of new DDR3 memory at 1066MHz, instead of DDR2 at 667MHz, and feature the latest NVIDIA GeForce 9400M integrated graphics with “up to a 4x performance boost” over the older Intel GMA X3100.
Specs of the glossy display remained the same: 13.3-inch diagonal, LED backlight, and a resolution of 1280-by-800 pixels.
The three-pound 0.76 inches thin laptop has an iSight web camera, illuminated keyboard, spacious multi-touch trackpad, AirPort Extreme Wi-Fi 802.11n wireless connection, Bluetooth, one USB port, and a Mini DisplayPort. Ethernet LAN and optical drive are provided via separately sold devices.
The MacBook Air runs Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard.
It is available for purchase via the Apple website and will start shipping early November.
