S3 Graphics today announced the Chrome 400 Series discrete graphics processors for notebooks and energy-efficient desktop PCs.
The S3 Graphics Chrome 400 Series GPUs provide DirectX 10.1 and PCI Express 2.0 technologies and feature a 64-bit memory interface. In addition, the incorporated ChromotionHD engine supports the latest HD standards including H.264, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, VC-1, WMV-HD, and AVS, while PowerWise technology optimizes balance between performance and power consumption. Display interfaces supported by the new S3 GPUs include HDMI, dual-link DVI, DisplayPort, HDTV, and VGA.
The Chrome 400 chips are produced using 65nm technology and will be available in late February 2008.
