Samsung Q45 and Samsung R70, the company’s notebooks scheduled for release during the first half of the year, will feature the currently unknown external nVIDIA GeForce GO 8000M series graphics card.
According to Samsung’s CeBIT 2007 web pages, the ultra-portable 12.1-inch widescreen Q45 and 15.4-inch widescreen R70 incorporate HDMI output for playback of high definition multimedia content. There is no other information about nVIDIA’s forthcoming GeForce GO 8000M external video card. Earlier reports say the GeForce 8000 series graphics for notebooks will be DirectX 10 compatible, as same as its desktop counterpart. There is currently only one announced external video solution for laptops - the Asus XG Station, which connects to notebook via ExpressCard slot.
Both announced Samsung Q45 and Samsung R70 are powered by Intel Core 2 Duo processors. The R70 will feature Intel’s Next-Gen Wireless N and an optional DVB-T module. DVB-T stands for Digital Video Broadcasting - Terrestrial and it is the DVB European consortium standard. The smaller Q45 will have HSDPA and WiBRO wireless connections and an optional Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB) module.
The new Samsung’s laptops will have a variety of notebooks’ standard ports and slots, but the Q45 stands out with its Fire-Wire port.
There is no information on price of these notebooks.
Samsung has also unveiled the specifications of the Aura R20 laptop, about which we have reported previously.
