Sierra’s AirCard 595 for Verizon’s EV-DO Rev A Available

Verizon Wireless and Sierra Wireless announced that the Sierra’s AirCard 595 PC card for EV-DO Revision A networks is now commercially available for use with Verizon Wireless BroadbandAccess service. The companies said the Sierra AirCard 595 PC card is also fully compatible with Verizon Wireless current EV-DO and CDMA 1X networks, adding the customers will see the benefits of EV-DO Revision A high-speed network “when and where it becomes available”.

The AirCard 595 PC card is available for $99.99 after a $50 rebate with a new two year customer agreement online at www.verizonwireless.com. For a limited time, Verizon Wireless customers with a new or existing voice plan can get unlimited BroadbandAccess service for Internet browsing, e-mail and intranet access for $59.99 monthly access. A new two-year customer agreement is required. For non-voice customers, BroadbandAccess is available for $79.99 monthly access with a new one- or two-year customer agreement.

The AirCard 595 is a Type II PCMCIA card that offers peak theoretical data transfer speeds of 3.1 megabits per second on the downlink and 1.8 Mbps on the uplink when operating on an EV-DO Revision A wireless network, according to the press release.
