Sierra Wireless AirCard 880U, 881U USBSierra Wireless has announced the AirCard 880U and AirCard 881U USB mobile broadband modems for HSUPA networks.

“With Sierra Wireless AirCard 880U and 881U USB modems operating on an HSUPA network, mobile data customers will be able to send email attachments, upload information, and transmit data from portable devices at speeds more than five times faster than on current HSDPA networks, up to a theoretical maximum speed of 2 megabits per second (Mbps). In addition, the AirCard 880U and 881U are fully compatible with HSDPA, UMTS, EDGE, GPRS, and GSM network technologies on all frequencies currently used worldwide.

These new mobile broadband modems with USB interface support Microsoft Windows Vista, Windows XP, and Windows 2000, as well as Mac OS X operating system.

Commercial shipments of the AirCard 880U, optimized for Europe and Asia, and the AirCard 881U for North America are expected to begin in September. Currently there is no information on pricing for these products.
