Sony today announced 13.3-inch widescreen, slim and fashionable Vaio C notebook series in five colors, featuring Intel Core 2 Duo (Merom) processor.
“Just like clothing styles, the Sony Vaio C Series reflects individuality with such color offerings for the casing as seashell white, blush pink, spring green, espresso black and urban gray. Complementary colors frame the touchpad of the unit and accentuate the casings, while a dimpled texture adorns the palm rest of the PC”, Sony’s press release says.
Along with Core 2 Duo processor, Sony Vaio C has integrated 802.11a/b/g wireless and DVD double layer burner. Sony mentioned that the Vaio C has ExpressCard slot, i.LINK (IEEE 802.11), USB ports, and has support for Memory Stick Duo and Memory Stick Pro.
There are no detailed hardware specifications in the USA press release and SonyStyle.com, but Sony’s European site listed four Vaio C models. Along with Core 2 Duo T5500 processors, the Vaio C notebooks in Europe have 1GB of memory (up to 2GB), a 100GB 5400rpm SATA hard drive and an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950, except black model with NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 graphics card, 120GB hard drive and integrated Bluetooth. The new Vaio laptops weight in range from 4.4 pounds to 6.6 pounds, European specifications says.
The Sony Vaio C is Windows Vista capable and Windows Vista Premium ready.
According to the press release, Sony VAIO C Series notebooks in espresso black and urban gray will be available at the end of October at national retailers starting at about $1,350. The exclusive colors of seashell white, blush pink and spring green can be purchased in November online at sonystyle.com or at Sony Style stores (www.sonystyle.com/retail) in select fashion malls around the country. Sony published that pre-orders begin online today at www.sony.com/pr/c.
