Sony Vaio MeromThe Sony Vaio FE, SZ and AR series laptop PCs will feature new 64-bit Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile (Merom) processors, according to the listings at Sony Business Solutions web site.

The Sony Vaio VGN-FE770G is the first laptop of the 15.4-inch screen FE series featuring the latest Intel Core 2 Duo CPU. With Core 2 Duo T5600 processor, 1GB of RAM and a 120GB hard drive, it is suggested by manufacturer to cost $1350.

Sony’s suggested price for the cheapest 13.3-inch screen Vaio SZ Core 2 Duo powered notebook is $1,950. It’s a VGN-SZ320P/B laptop and it comes with Merom T5600 processor, 1GB of RAM and a 120GB hard drive. There are also Core 2 Duo VGN-SZ330P/B, VGN-SZ360P/C and VGN-SZ370P/C Vaios, featuring T7200 CPU, 2GB of RAM and a 120GB hard drive, with suggested prices of $2150, $2350 and $2450 respectively.

The lowest priced Core 2 Duo powered Sony Vaio AR 17-inch screen laptop is the VGN-AR230G model with T5600 processor, 1GB of RAM and a 200GB hard drive. It costs $1800, while VGN-AR250G and VGN-AR290G, both with T7200 CPU, 2GB of RAM and a 200GB hard drive cost $2300 and $3500 respectively.

All Sony’s Core 2 Duo Vaio laptops are labeled as ready for Windows Vista Premium operating system.
